Review From Board Game Fan
Here's what Dr. Dre from Melbourne has to say about the game: "Pull up a chair. Fold out the board. Select your aeroplane. Its time to pursue World Domination. This game is a wonderful mix of challenges. It is a harrowing test of each player's general (and not so general) knowledge. Some are experts at home (in Australasia), yet falter once they head across the sea to Asia or Europe. Some find relief in the Americas (yet get stumped by the Australasian questions from the 1970s and 80s). In stunning parallel to much of the past two millennia of geopolitical history, almost everyone that ventures into Africa leaves battle-scarred and pretty much empty handed. The game offers a variety of strategic options. Do I buy Australasia early so as to have a beachhead into the rest of the world? Or should I ignore the "ass-end of the world" and head for the more promising Asian opportunities? What are the odds I'll get a question right in Africa and secure that gold mine? What if I leave it too late and find myself condemned to paying hefty tariffs to all and sundry? Should I hide in Embassies or continue on?
World Domination prompts comparisons - to Trivial Pursuit, to Monopoly and to Risk - yet it is much more than the sum of its parts. Success (and thus world domination) relies on some luck, some judicious purchases, and a good grasp of the trivial and non-trivial. Each player's geographical weak spots will quickly emerge. And, finally, a personal word of warning - beware of any player born and raised in Africa - they can really throw a cat amongst the pigeons."

Where The Idea For World Domination Came From
As a kid I dreamt of creating my own board game. I grew up playing board games; my family are board game fanatics and have every game available. When I was younger I came up with many ideas for board games - 4 player chess, a stock market game and a Top 40 music game to name a few. When I was at school I sent my ideas to game companies but they were never interested. There was one idea that stayed with me. The idea was simple – trivia and money, combined in one game called ‘World Domination.’ In 2002, I started testing the game with friends, to see if they enjoyed it. After the initial tests were positive, I started working on the design, rules and the work of putting the game out. I approached good friend and renowned trivia writer Bruce Elder to write the questions. Bruce writes the Australian Trivia Pursuit editions, he is also a travel writer and journalist for the Sydney Morning Herald. So once he started writing the thousands of questions, the game started to take shape. My brother Jason did a fantastic job doing all the artwork and design for the game. I am extremely proud of the game, and it’s satisfying to finally to see my original idea a reality. I am excited people, other than my friends and family, will be playing the game! I look forward to everyone’s thoughts. If you like board games, you’ll love ‘World Domination’. Cheers Chris Crouch |
